The third smallest island, known as “The Yellow Island” is a real jewel of nature with the green of the fields and the yellow of the crops. Besides being such a colorful island, it not only has the beauty of the fields, but it’s surrounded by dazzling sandy beaches, interesting rock formations, rustic buildings and the artistic church facades.

With it’s 5500 inhabitants, Vila do Porto is it’s municipality.

As for it’s economy, agriculture, fishing and tourism generates an important tertiary sector, associated with sailing, windsurfing, sport fishing, hiking and even rabbit hunting.

Several festivities are held on the island, some of it are Festas de Santo Antonio in June, and Festas de S.Joao, Festas N. Sra da Assuncao and Festival Mare de Agosto all in August.
