The smallest island of the Azores — the Island of the Crow — with the less then 500 inhabitants with this only one urban centre is the best of both worlds with giving you the combination of the absolutely breathtaking nature with the infusion of the village life.

Rosario is the location of the 3 ports to satisfy all needs for various times, together with a beach for leisure activities on the other side of the island.
The island is serviced by an airport, and the economy is mainly maintained from producing dairy, primarily cheese.

The third smallest island, known as “The Yellow Island” is a real jewel of nature with the green of the fields and the yellow of the crops. Besides being such a colorful island, it not only has the beauty of the fields, but it’s surrounded by dazzling sandy beaches, interesting rock formations, rustic buildings and the artistic church facades.

With it’s 5500 inhabitants, Vila do Porto is it’s municipality.

As for it’s economy, agriculture, fishing and tourism generates an important tertiary sector, associated with sailing, windsurfing, sport fishing, hiking and even rabbit hunting.

Several festivities are held on the island, some of it are Festas de Santo Antonio in June, and Festas de S.Joao, Festas N. Sra da Assuncao and Festival Mare de Agosto all in August.

The island of Sao Jorge looks like the best kept secret of nature with around 10 thousand inhabitants, astonishing scenario all the way on this interestingly shaped land, as the length of it being 53 km with the with of 8kms.

Since it’s discovery in the 1400s it has been inhabited, it went through several volcanic eruptions and it’s main industries are agriculture, fisheries and dairy products.

Lush green areas all over the island give more then enough food for the fauna to thrive on, therefore Sao Jorge is producing it’s own famous and delicious unpasteurized cheddar which is aged for 120 days.

This volcanic island is located in the centre of the Azores Islands.

Graciosa Island, also referred to as White Island, was discovered in the 1450ies and it’s name translates to Enchanting. No wonder, since the fertile fields producing innumerous award winning products and the wonderful landscape expressing contrast between the green pastures and the white houses is a beautiful scenario itself.

This particular webcam is placed in Santa Cruz de Graciosa, the only municipality of Ilha Graciosa.

If you decide to visit, besides the ravishing landscape and the marvelous ocean you will have the Carapacho termal baths for relaxation and a newly built hotel to stay at during your visit.

Lajes das Flores is the second municipality of the island. The town has it’s own natural harbor and in the 19th century it was renowned for whale fishing. Thankfully this had been ended in 1981 and a whale museum had been created instead. The new harbor’s facilities make Lajes the most important transshipment harbor of the island.

Besides the old whaling factory, the most imposing building of the town is a church, the Igreja Martiz Nossa Senhora do Rosario with 2 tiled cupolas. Nearby there is a cemetery which was built in the second half of the 18th century by Spanish noblemen.

As for nature attractions, the west of Lajes has the nearly 600m high Morro dos Frades. They say it appears to be a nun and a monk — see it yourself!

This incredibly beautiful place not only has a historical importance, but was able to maintain an economical growth despite the earthquake in the 1800s which practically destroyed a big portion of the land.

It is still progressing with architectural newcomers, such as a large oceanic port in addition to the existing Parish Church, Town Hall and Historic Centre, not to mention the welcoming beaches of Praia da Vitoria.

This astonishingly beautiful bay can not be transmitted only through the webcam.
Due to the importance of the location of the island it had been a great priority to defend the location during the time of cargo transiting. Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama’s voyages were one of the most important just to name a few to establish this island as a crossroad through the Atlantic.

The flourishing flora and fauna and plenty of architectural places of interest may as well make it a desired destination for the ones eager to discover.
