This gem of the Azores has a central location and referred as “The Blue Island” by the poet, Raul Brandao due to the Hortensias blooming all over during the summer.
The city of Horta has several spectacular old buildings, shops, cafes and great restaurants.
The Horta Marina is the 4th visited marina in the world, therefore visiting Faial, this marina is an attraction not to be missed. It also holds the European Blue Flag since 1987.
The Marina is an open air gallery, the sea legends, sailor spirits and the yachtsmen had filled all it’s walls with paintings to have good luck on their trips.
If you are there, visit the Peter Café Sport which is a unusual all-in-one place, consisting not only a bar, but coffee shop, scrimshaw museum, exchange currency and a welcoming spot for the sailors of today.
